Manchester United striker ‘target’ is ‘ready to be sold’ and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been linked with interest in Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram, and a report says that his German club are ready to sell.

The 25-year-old has had a terrific start to the season, netting 13 goals in 17 matches so far. The France international's contract expires in the summer and with no renewal yet agreed, his employers are willing to allow him to leave in January rather than let him depart for nothing.

That’s according to 90min, which claims Thuram - son of France legend Lillian - could be sold for £10m, which is the price Gladbach paid French outfit Guingamp for him in 2019. It says United, Arsenal and Tottenham all are tracking his situation.

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has stayed coy on his club’s January transfer activity. He has explained: "There may be changes in winter, but it may also be the case that there aren't any.

"Of course we're in talks with the players. I can't tell you right now whether these players will still play here after the winter or in the coming season."

Meanwhile, United still are continuing to monitor young Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandes, according to Record (via Sport Witness ). The Argentine, who played 31 minutes in Tuesday’s 2-1 World Cup loss to Saudi Arabia, has impressed in Portugal this season.

After arriving from River Plate in the summer, he has tallied five assists and scored three goals as Benfica remain unbeaten having defeated Juventus twice and hold Paris Saint-Germain to two draws in the Champions League.

Record says that a January exit for Fernandez is not on the cards given his club’s success so far this season and it claims the player has a £100m release clause in his contract.

Benfica spent just £10m on the playmaker and so if an irrefusable offer that would lead to a healthy profit comes in, the Liga NOS leaders may oblige.
