Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho nominated for Premier League award

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

It's been a brilliant 2022 for the exciting winger so far. Garnarcho's excellent form for United's youth teams has been recognised with a call-up to the senior side, his five goals and three assists in five games have earned the club a place in their first FA Youth Cup final since 2011 and he has even been named in the Argentina squad. Now he has earned yet another accomplishment for his displays at Under-23 level.

The 17-year-old has been a regular in Neil Wood's side after earning a quick promotion through the ranks and made two appearances in the Premier League 2, Division 1, in April. Garnacho grabbed the deciding goal in a victory over Chelsea and his displays have earned him a nomination for the league's best player for the month.

He faces stiff competition to win the accolade, however, with seven other players also nominated for the award. Among the favourites must be Manchester City duo Liam Delap and Cole Palmer. The attacking pair have both had their injury struggles this year but returned to action with a bang last month.

Delap bagged five goals and an assist in just three games, while Palmer scored three times and also got an assist in his two appearances.

Elsewhere, Liverpool's Jack Bearne, Arsenal's Mika Biereth, Lewis Brunt of Leicester City, West Ham United's Sonny Perkins and finally Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville are all in the running as well. The winner will be revealed on May 16.
