Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned as the Premier League's Player of the Month for April.
The Portuguese international, who returned to Old Trafford last summer, scored five goals in four games last month, helping United earn four points all by himself. He scored a superb hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Norwich City and the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, both at Old Trafford. Ronaldo also found the back of the net in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
It means that Ronaldo has now scooped the illustrious award twice this season, after claiming the gong back in September. He saw off competition from seven other Premier League players to earn the award, including Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.
In what has proven to be a hugely underwhelming campaign for United, Ronaldo has been a shining light, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. Of his 24 strikes, 18 of them have come in the Premier League, meaning only Mohamed Salah (22) of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-min (20) have scored more.
Ronaldo's treble against Norwich marked his 50th career hat-trick in club football, while his goal at the Emirates Stadium against Mikel Arteta's Gunners was his 100th in the Premier League. The United ace experienced a difficult time off the time during April following the tragic death of his baby son, making this latest personal accolade all the more remarkable.
His latest Player of the Month prize means that he is now just one behind Tottenham's Harry Kane and former City striker Sergio Aguero in equalling the record number of Premier League Player of the Month awards that have been won. He is currently level with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard on six.
