Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo excluded from 100 most valuable players list

Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes are among the world’s 100 most valuable players – but there’s no place for Cristiano Ronaldo in a list full of surprises.

CIES Football Observatory Weekly have released their latest football value table, which estimates the transfer values for players worldwide. There are a few Manchester United players included in their top 100, although Ronaldo isn’t included, despite being one of the club’s few bright sparks over the past year.

Sancho is the highest-ranked player from United, with his value of €103.2million placing him 13th on the list. He sits just ahead of team-mate Fernandes in 17th, with the Portugal international boasting an estimated value of €97.8m, despite a disappointing recent season at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay (€67.5m) and Harry Maguire (€52m) also make the top 100, with the former surprisingly being valued above the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son. The Premier League dominates the rankings, with 41 of the players included in the list coming from England’s top clubs.

There’s no place for Ronaldo though, despite the five-time Ballon d’Or winner breaking more records over the past year after becoming the highest goalscorer of all time. The Portuguese ace’s great rival Lionel Messi is also not included following his move to Paris Saint-Germain last year.

Messi’s team-mate Kylian Mbappe tops the rankings with a whopping value of €205.6m. The French superstar sits ahead of Vinicius Jr (€185.3m) in second, while Erling Haaland (€152.6m) sits in third after securing his move to Manchester City.

Elsewhere, United transfer target Frenkie de Jong (€112.5m) is ranked as the seventh most valuable player in the world, ranking him higher than any of the Reds’ current players. United have made contact with Barcelona over the availability of the midfielder as they weigh up a move for him this summer.

Meanwhile, Benfica striker Darwin Nunez — who has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford — also makes the top 100 with a value of €70.1m. Declan Rice also features, with the West Ham star being valued at €75.1m.
