Alejandro Garnacho wasted no time in delivering yet another dig at Barcelona following their Copa del Rey semi-final defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
A goal from Vinicius and a hat-trick from Karim Benzema subjected the hosts to a 4-0 Nou Camp defeat to bow out of the competition despite earning a 1-0 lead in the first leg at the Bernabeu.
Madrid-born Garnacho - who was called up to Argentina’s squad last month - came through the ranks at Atletico Madrid prior to his 2020 switch to United. His Reds breakthrough season has seen him become a fan-favourite having recorded four goals and five assists in 29 games.

The winger is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but is clearly still paying attention to what is going on in football. Vinicius posted on Instagram after the win, saying: ‘Remontada y Final = REAL MADRID’ which translates as ‘comeback and final = Real Madrid’.
Garnacho couldn’t resist aiming a quick swipe at Barcelona, reacting to the caption by writing: ‘Normal’, although has seemingly deleted the comment since. The 18-year-old featured for United in their Europa League knockout win over Barcelona in February.
After United secured an epic win, Garnacho performed the ‘binoculars’ celebration (seen above) towards the Old Trafford crowd - a gesture usually performed by Barcelona teenager Gavi. Writing on social media shortly after the game, he wrote: “The big team goes through.”
Given his loyalties, it is perhaps no surprise that former Real icon Cristiano Ronaldo is his football idol. Garnacho played with the big man several times at United before his less than amicable departure in November.
“I don't know if it's real or if I'm dreaming,” Garnacho wrote on Instagram after posting a photograph of Ronaldo putting his arm around him following United’s 3-0 Europa League win over FC Sheriff in October.
Garnacho will want to carve a career of stardom himself. He can do that upon his return from injury, which is expected to be before the season concludes.
