Manchester United sign third Youth Cup winner to professional deal

Manchester United youngster Maxi Oyedele has signed his first professional deal with the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder is one of the most talented players in the club's illustrious youth academy system and has been rewarded with a new contract after a stellar season. Oyedele was a key member of the club's successful FA Youth Cup winning side, playing in every match of the competition as his side lifted silverware earlier this month.

The teenage midfielder played 26 minutes in the final against Nottingham Forest, making a key contribution as United struck twice late on to win the prestigious youth competition.

It marked an impressive individual season for Oyedele after he featured 22 times for the academy and also made his international debut, being called up to play for Poland U18s. The youngster is also eligible to play for both Nigeria and England at international level.

Taking to social media in midweek, Oyedele confirmed his new contract as he looks ahead to another important season at the club.

"Happy to sign my first professional contract with @manchesterunited, the hard work continues!" he posted on Instagram along with a picture of himself signing the deal.

Oyedele is the third member of the Youth Cup winning side to sign a professional deal since the final, following on from Tyler Fredricson and Kobbie Mainoo.
