Manchester United 'set to battle Newcastle for Gabri Veiga' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly set to battle it out with Newcastle United for the signature of Celta Vigo's young attacking midfielder Gabri Veiga.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season in La Liga this campaign. Having started the season as a squad player, Veiga has managed to earn his place as a regular starter thanks to his performances.

So far, the Spain U21 international has scored eight goals and grabbed three assists in 27 appearances. While there is still work to be done when it comes to his development, Veiga's potential has looked promising.

According to The Sun, the Carabao Cup finalists are both thought to be interested in the Spaniard. But the Premier League clubs will have to act fast if they want his services.

It is claimed that a £35m release clause is currently inserted into Veiga's contract which expires in 2026. However, the player's agent and Celta Vigo are believed to be in talks on a new deal which would not only improve the 20-year-old's wages but also increase that release clause.

Elsewhere, United are reportedly ready to make a move for Sporting's Goncalo Inacio. It is understood that the Reds were on the fence about the 21-year-old centre-back.

However, according to Correo da Manha, Inacio put to rest any doubts following his performance against Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday night. Sporting held the Gunners to a 2-2 draw in Lisbon and Inacio was one of the stars for the Portuguese side.

It is claimed that Sporting would be looking for €35m but at this stage it is not clear whether United would be willing to match that figure or not.
