Manchester United 'set' maximum Mason Mount bid and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly set their maximum bid for Mason Mount at £60million.

United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to add a new centre-forward and a dynamic midfielder to his squad in the summer transfer window, with Chelsea midfielder Mount a prime candidate for the latter. GiveMeSport claims that United, who have agreed personal terms with Mount, will not be willing to go above that figure due to their 'restricted' transfer policy.

But Mount, who has still not signed fresh terms at Stamford Bridge, could give manager Erik ten Hag what he is looking for in midfield - alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. But Chelsea, who have Mount contracted until 2024, are said to be after a sizable fee for their academy graduate.

The report claims that signing Mount is a 'high priority' for United this summer - but that the club is 'adamant' they don't want to go above £60m. Elsewhere, Daily Star reports that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a bid for Jadon Sancho this summer. The winger has endured an underwhelming campaign at Old Trafford and Spurs are said to be contemplating a £50million move for the wide man.

Ange Postecoglou is preparing for his first season as Tottenham boss, following his move from Celtic. And Sancho, who netted seven goals in 41 appearances last season, is 'definitely' of interest to Spurs according to the report. Tottenham are also said to have begun negotiations for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

Finally, it's claimed that United will refuse to loan Harry Maguire to Newcastle United this summer. The Sun say Eddie Howe's side are keen on a temporary deal for the United captain, but United will not loan him there as it would be helping a direct rival with no financial benefit. Aston Villa, however, are said to have a better chance over a loan swoop.
