Manchester United will receive more compensation from FIFA for releasing their players at future World Cups.
The club had 15 players in Qatar and as a result, they received £2.15 million ($2.65m) from world football's governing body through their Club Benefits Programme. Only Manchester City (£3.25m; $4m) and Chelsea (£2.32m; $2.86m) received more than United.
FIFA pays clubs for every day an individual is away on international duty during a tournament and that figure will be significantly higher come the 2026 tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The combined payments clubs receive will almost double to £298.74m from the £170.58m ($209m), an increase of £120m ($146m). The agreement is in place for the 2026 and 2030 editions.
United have had more than 10 players featuring at each of the last two World Cups - 11 were involved in 2018 - and received approximately £5 million combined from those two tournaments. The financial increase comes as part of a new Memorandum of Understanding between FIFA and the European Clubs' Association (ECA) at the latter's general assembly in Budapest, Hungary.
