Manchester United 'send scouts' to watch Gent starlet and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are one of several sides interested in Gent striker Gift Orban, according to reports.

United manager Erik ten Hag is in the market for a striker, with a world-class goalscorer his main transfer priority. Harry Kane has been earmarked as the Dutchman's priority target, while the likes of Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani are also of interest.

Now, according to the Evening Standard, United are also tracking 20-year-old Gent star Orban.

The youngster has scored 19 goals in as many games for Belgian outfit Gent this season, averaging one every 75 minutes. Such form has attracted the interest of those at United, as well as Chelsea, Tottenham and Fulham. However, Orban only joined Gent in January and is contracted until 2027, with only a huge fee likely to tempt them into selling their Nigerian star.

Elsewhere, Calciomercato report that Napoli have earmarked Giorgio Scalvini as the likely successor to Kim Min-jae, with the South Korean said to be closing in on a move to United.

Several outlets in recent weeks have reported that Kim is closing in on a move to Old Trafford, with United reportedly ready to activate the €50m release clause that will be active for the first two weeks of July.

Other reports have suggested talks are already in progress between the Reds and representatives of Kim, 26, in order to facilitate a swift move this summer.

Ten Hag is thought to be keen on defensive reinforcements, with the futures of Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly uncertain while Axel Tuanzebe will leave this summer and Phil Jones' departure was confirmed on Friday.
