Manchester United's Scott McTominay has been told to pick West Ham over Newcastle United with the Scotland international primed for a summer switch. That's according to former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.
The Red Devils versatile midfielder has been linked with a move to St. James' Park since January, after Erik Ten Hag reportedly turned down a loan move from the Magpies. Eddie Howe's side are said to be keen on renegotiating a transfer next summer, as they look to take their squad to the next level.
McTominay notched a brace in his last outing for Scotland in a surprise 2-0 win over Spain at Hampden Park, with Steve Clarke's side now topping their qualifying group. The Manchester United academy graduate has seen his game time take a hit following the arrival of Casemiro in the summer.

However, Ten Hag still rates the Scot highly despite his lack of minutes this season. Pennant believes Declan Rice's departure at West Ham would leave the door open for McTominay, who he thinks is a player of similar ilk.
“I would say go for a Newcastle, maybe a West Ham,” Pennant told talkSPORT. “If Declan Rice leaves, I think that will be a great purchase.
"A great addition for West Ham. (McTominay and Rice) are a similar kind of players. If I was McTominay, West Ham would be a good place to go.”
