Manchester United's next six Premier League fixtures compared with Arsenal, Man City and rivals

Manchester United moved up to third in the Premier League table after defeating Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

City took the lead through Jack Grealish, but the Reds responded well and levelled proceedings through Bruno Fernandes. Erik ten Hag's side went on to win the clash thanks to Marcus Rashford's 82nd-minute strike, which saw United move above Newcastle United in the Premier League table - just one point behind the Blues.

The Reds have now won their last nine matches in all competitions and are the only team in England still competing on all four fronts - with Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League glory all still possible this term.

United have not lost since the Premier League defeat to Aston Villa in early November, but Ten Hag is keen for his players to remain focused in the coming months. With four more games to come before the end of the month, it promises to be a challenging few weeks for the Reds.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a close look at United's next six fixtures compared to those of their rivals.

Manchester United - 3rd (38pts)

  • Crystal Palace (A) - January 18
  • Arsenal (A) - January 22
  • Crystal Palace (H) - February 4
  • Leeds United (A) - February 12
  • Leicester City (H) - February 19
  • Brentford (H) - February 26

VERDICT: With three home games in their next six matches, United will be confident of continuing their unbeaten run. The ultimate target is still to secure Champions League football for next season, and the Reds will go into the games against Palace, Leicester and Brentford as favourites.

However, with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal to come, it is vital that the Reds remain focused and motivated. It was United who won the reverse fixture, but the Gunners, much liked Ten Hag's side, have got even better since that clash. If the Reds can win four of their next six matches, that would be a decent return.
