Welcome to the United On My Mind daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester United stories that you might have missed.
United's search for a manager continues with just four names being considered serious candidates amid the reports suggesting the club want to appoint the new man before the end of the season.
With the squad in desperate need of a midfielder, a £10m solution could be made with a midfielder from France, as reports suggest United have made contact with a player who hopefully can sign before the end of next week.
And finally, it's being reported that United scouts were amongst several watching Porto's star man.
And then there were four
The United side seems to be showing signs of improvement under interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The performances have increased in several aspects, but Rangnick will be taking a consultancy role beyond this season, with the hunt for a new permanent manager heating up.
The Athletic have reported four high-profile names are now on the United wishlist, with Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique all being eyed up by the United hierarchy.
Our view : With the debacle that surrounded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking, it's encouraging and surprising that United are planning. Of course, these four names being linked are all hugely talented and clever footballing minds, but I think I speak for many United fans when I say the one that we'd all love is Erik ten Hag.
Mauricio Pochettino would have an honourable mention with his Premier League experience. Still, there's something special about Ten Hag and a partnership with him and Rangnick next season could be dynamite.
Lights, Kamara, action
United's need for a midfielder has been done to death, and without any new additions coming in, this is set to ramble on for quite some time. But there may be a late January swoop for a £10m bargain.
As per The Daily Mail, United have spoken to Boubacar Kamara's agent over a potential move to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, and January would provide the only month where Marseille could make money off him. The report also suggests Aston Villa and Leeds have approached his entourage.
Our view : Am I the only one who sees how simple this one is? He's a defensive-minded midfielder; he has age on his side and would cost just £10m. Even if United were to go again for a midfielder in the summer, it's not as if the club would've broken the bank for Kamara. It's a low-risk, high-reward situation.
United eye Liverpool target
The United, Liverpool rivalry is recognised across the globe, and so very often they go to battle on the field, but this time it seems as if it'll be off-the-field shenanigans that see the two clubs lock horns yet again.
As per Ojogo, United scouts have watched £67m-rated Porto winger Luis Diaz as the club weigh up a move for the man who is also a Liverpool target.
Our view : With Anthony Martial on the verge of completing his move to Sevilla, there may be a vacancy in the wide areas that Diaz could come into. However, spending over £60m in a position that is not the most needed in the side would seem to be making old mistakes that the club has suffered from before.
Diaz is a brilliant player who is a constant threat, but United could do with several improvements more than the wide area.
