Manchester United's Jadon Sancho reacts to England snub

Manchester United's Jadon Sancho has vowed to keep on working hard after failing to make Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Southgate named his 28-man squad for the Three Lions' upcoming games against Italy and Germany on Thursday afternoon and Sancho was not named in the squad, while his United teammate Marcus Rashford was left out due to injury.

Although Sancho was snubbed by Southgate again, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and loanee Dean Henderson all made the squad. Maguire and Shaw have made the England squad despite making just two starts for United this season.

United played FC Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday night and Sancho perfectly responded to the disappointment of not making the England squad by scoring the game's opener with an excellent and well-taken finish in the 16th minute.

That was Sancho's third goal of the season and he was asked about his England snub after United defeated Sheriff.

"Yeah, 100% [make England squad], that is one of the targets," Sancho admitted to MUTV. "It's unfortunate that I didn't get the call-up, but I have to just keep focussing on myself and keep on working hard, week in and week out, that's what I'll do."

Sancho scored just five goals last season and he's almost certain to net more than that tally in this new campaign.

The international break begins after the weekend and United are next in action on Sunday, October 2.
