Manchester United's highest-value player revealed as £70million star

Bruno Fernandes has been named as the Manchester United player with the highest current transfer value, according to a new statistical model

Research from the CIES Football Observatory pulled together information from over 1,000 clubs within 74 leagues across the world to estimate a transfer value for each individual player.

The model values Fernandes at around £70million (€80million), making him the most valuable at Old Trafford following a brilliant season for the Reds. The Portuguese international has been an ever-present under Erik ten Hag, with 11 goals and 12 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.

One of the key components for current value is contract length, and that is what elevates Fernandes above United teammate Marcus Rashford. The forward will enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer, therefore lowering his value as it stands, while Fernandes is tied down until 2026.

Another tool which values players under the scenario of a three-year contract places Rashford as the club's most valuable asset, with the 25-year-old estimated to be worth around £87.3million (€100million).

The model also states that Fernandes' £70million value is 11% of the total squad value of United, which would mean it estimates the club's squad to be worth £727million.

Under the scenario of a three-year contract, Brazilian winger Antony has been named as United's third-most valuable asset with an estimated transfer value of £69.83million, while both Lisandro Martinez and Jadon Sancho both calculated to be worth £52.37million.

The model's most valuable players in the world at this current time were Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. who were both estimated to be worth £174.5million, with Jude Bellingham, Pedri, Jamal Musiala and Kylian Mbappe in joint third at £131million.
