Manchester United's Darwin Nunez transfer decision Arsenal and Chelsea could be boosted by

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a major boost to their hopes of signing Darwin Nunez, with Manchester United reportedly eyeing alternatives. The Benfica striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over recent months.

The Gunners emerged as potential contenders for his services over recent months, with Mikel Arteta understandably keen to add to their attacking options ahead of next season. Elsewhere, The Athletic have reported that Thomas Tuchel ’s Chelsea are one of the Premier League sides ‘leading the race’ for the striker.

The London duo might be set to be presented with a wonderful opportunity to secure the services of the former Almeria man, however, with the Red Devils already looking at potential alternatives should their pursuit of Nunez fail. According to Fabrizio Romano, the prospect of signing Everton forward Richarlison has been ‘discussed internally’.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian has made a distinct call over his future that could see a move slightly easier to facilitate. It is suggested that he has signed a deal with CAA Base agency.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United do move for Richarlison in the near future - and whether that does indeed have an impact on their interest in Nunez - but it is suggested that there has been no talks on a move for the Everton man whilst he attempts to remain focused on the Toffees’ current battle to steer themselves away from relegation danger.

Nunez has certainly caught the eye with his exhilarating goal-scoring performances this season. He has 32 goals to his name in all competitions this term, including two against Liverpool in their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Intriguingly, he has already made a statement over his future but suggested that he will not reveal his next destination until the end of the current season. As quoted by Metro, he said: "Until the season is over, I won’t say anything, and I’ll leave everything for this shirt. My job is to continue like this, to take advantage of this luck that is happening to me.

"Last year I didn’t play at all, but this year I’m having an incredible season. I have to continue like this, and there is also a lot of merit from my colleagues."
