Manchester United receive Antony injury boost ahead of Everton game

Antony took part in Manchester United training on Wednesday afternoon after missing the Bournemouth game due to injury.

The Brazilian winger started against Wolves on New Year's Eve but was absent from the matchday squad to play Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Erik ten Hag was asked about Antony's absence pre-match and said: "He is injured."

Antony sustained a hip injury at the end of October and that problem meant he was sidelined for five United fixtures. Antony returned to fitness in time to play at the World Cup and he returned to domestic action against Burnley on December 21.

United play Everton in the FA Cup on Friday and Antony is expected to be available for selection after returning to training.

Facundo Pellistri was also absent from the matchday squad on Tuesday but he trained with the first-team on Wednesday. Pellistri joined the club in October 2020 for £9million but is still yet to make his first-team debut and could leave on loan this month.

Regarding the youngsters who trained at Carrington, Zidane Iqbal, Sam Murray and Sonny Aljofree worked with the main group. Murray and Aljofree were both involved in the Under-18s squad that won the FA Youth Cup last season.

Since the Youth Cup final in May, Alejandro Garnacho has made his full debut, Charlie McNeill has made his debut, Isak Hansen-Aaroen featured against Rayo Vallecano in pre-season and Kobbie Mainoo and Tyler Fredricson have made the bench.
