Manchester United prepare move for Chelsea star as Erik ten Hag targets another transfer reunion

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with Premier League rivals Manchester United now preparing a move for the Moroccan winger.

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Ziyech throughout the summer transfer window but now look set to face competition from United with Erik ten Hag looking to secure a reunion at Old Trafford with the 29-year-old. Thomas Tuchel is keen to reshape his attack for the 2022/23 season after signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, with the Blues now pursuing a deal for Everton starlet Anthony Gordon, football.london understands.

The west Londoners are looking to sell on a number of fringe players with the futures of Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Michy Batshuayi and Callum Hudson-Odoi all uncertain at Stamford Bridge. Todd Boehly has showed he is willing to back Tuchel's decisions in the transfer market and if new attackers are set to come into the club, a move away from the Blues could be the best decision for Ziyech.

Whilst a move for to AC Milan remains a possibility for Chelsea’s Moroccan forward, United are also ready to make a move for the 29-year-old, according to Nabil Djellit, via L'Equipe. The Manchester United board are now 'listening to manager Erik ten Hag on the subject' and are now willing to advance a deal for the Blues winger should the London club’s asking price not be too high.

Ten Hag is thought to be keen on a reunion after coaching Ziyech during his spell at Ajax, but that there wasn’t an agreement on the player’s profile amongst the recruitment department at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old secured a £36million move from the Dutch outfit back in 2020 but has failed to establish himself as a regular first team player in the two years he has spent in west London.

Chelsea have had two bids for Everton starlet Gordon rejected this week with the Toffees valuing the 21-year-old at a minimum of £50million. Should a deal be able to be negotiated between the two clubs, Ziyech would fall further down the pecking order in Tuchel's squad with an exit from Stamford Bridge becoming increasingly likely despite Milan failing to agree a deal for the 29-year-old thus far.
