Manchester United player ratings as Casemiro and Victor Lindelof good vs Chelsea

David de Gea

Faced plenty of attempts and had saves to make after the interval. Joao Felix's late goal spoiled a clean sheet for the Golden Glove recipient. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Relished his rapport with Antony again but regressed to leave space for Lewis Hall to charge into and create two great chances for Chelsea. 6

Raphael Varane

His usual classy self. Varane was never likely to be troubled by an impotent team without a recognised striker. 8

Victor Lindelof

Slipped early on but did not slip up. Advanced into midfield to convert defence into an attack that Bruno Fernandes ended by hitting the woodwork. 8

Luke Shaw

Not at his usual high level and came off at half-time for Tyrell Malacia in a presumably enforced move. 6

Casemiro

Scored the opening goal with an adventurous charge and made the second goal possible. Another imperious performance against Chelsea. 9

Christian Eriksen

His inswinging free-kick was right on the money for Casemiro and he had a chance from close range clawed away by Kepa Arrizabalaga. 7

Antony

Came off in the first half with a seemingly serious ankle injury after a tackle by Trevoh Chalobah. Had been heavily involved prior to his removal. 6

Bruno Fernandes

Had a decent penalty shout but his reputation precedes him. Smacked the crossbar and his decision-making let him down with another opening. Eventually got a penalty and scored it. 7

Jadon Sancho

One of United's weakest performers until he received Casemiro's pass and put it on a plate for Anthony Martial to score. Better in the second half. 6

Anthony Martial

Similar to Sancho until he tapped in to make it 2-0 in the fifth minute of added time in the first half. His last two goals have been tap-ins. 6

Subs

Marcus Rashford

An early arrival as Antony was carried off. Got his 30th goal of the season. 7

Tyrell Malacia

Got booked. 6

Alejandro Garnacho

Hit the bar. 7

Fred

Brought energy. 7

Scott McTominay

Late arrival. 6

Manager

The unchanged team was not justified but the two fortuitous starters combined to effectively kill the contest. 7
