David de Gea
Made a couple of fine saves but was let down by those in front of him again. Beaten a third time by Granit Xhaka. 6
Diogo Dalot
As imposing as a hologram as Nuno Tavares nipped in to score. Hit the crossbar with a dipping drive and the post in the second-half when Arsenal were only a goal ahead on both occasions. 5
Victor Lindelof
The best of a bad back four. Did not do much wrong himself and alert on the ball as United strove to equalise. 6

Raphael Varane
His first game in three weeks is not a sufficient excuse for his failed clearance that eventually led to Tavares's goal. 5
Alex Telles
Partly culpable for the first goal and solely blameworthy for the second in conceding a penalty. Managed to go the second-half without causing much chaos. 3
Scott McTominay
Wasted a good headed chance from a corner shortly after Arsenal went 1-0 up and earned a penalty from another corner. 6
Nemanja Matic
Fine cross for Cristiano Ronaldo that got United back into the game. Did not have much of a tussle with the Arsenal midfield and steady enough. 6
Anthony Elanga
Wasted a one-on-one with a tame hit at Aaron Ramsdale and had the good fortune of playing against the terrible Tavares, but should have offered more. 5
Bruno Fernandes
Hesitated over a shot at 1-0 when he should at least have hit the target and blamed others for his own mistakes, as usual. Missed a penalty. 3
Jadon Sancho
Had Cedric Soares on toast and should have created more chances than he did against such a dreadful full-back. 6
Cristiano Ronaldo
United's best player again. Scored clinically and quickly after Arsenal went 2-0 up. Had a goal disallowed for a narrow offside. 7
Subs
Jesse Lingard
Came on late. 5
Marcus Rashford
Came on late. 5
Juan Mata
Another cameo. 5
Manager
Rightly dropped Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Rashford. Wrongly recalled Telles and retained Fernandes. Could not legislate for the porous defending and profligate finishing. 5
