Manchester United 'monitoring' PSG forward Neymar and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly 'monitoring' Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar ahead of a potential summer move.

The Brazilian's future in France is said to be unclear, with his current club thought to be keen to offload his monumental wages. And Foot Mercato has now claimed that, should United's Qatari takeover prove successful, the Old Trafford side could make Neymar a marquee summer signing.

The report adds that United have 'been keeping an eye on him for several months' and made inquiries into his availability at the start of the year. United are not the only Premier League outfit credited with an interest in Neymar, however, with Chelsea's new owners also reportedly having met with the player's representatives in February, per ESPN.

Meanwhile, on-loan United goalkeeper Jack Butland is 'on the brink of joining Scottish giants Rangers. That is according to a report by The Scottish Sun, who claim that the Gers are closing in on his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

The shot-stopper is currently on loan at United from fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace. They swooped for his signature in early-January after former loanee Martin Dubravka returned to Newcastle United early.

Despite joining the club to provide cover and competition for David de Gea, he has not played a single minute for the Reds so far. In fact, he has not made a single appearance all season at first-team level for either United or Palace.

He is not expected to turn his Old Trafford loan deal into a permanent one, meaning he will return to London at the end of the season. However, his contract at Selhurst Park expires on June 30 and it is not expected to be renewed, meaning he will be free to join a new club on a free transfer.

And that new club, according to the report, will be Rangers, with boss Mick Beale keen to make the former Birmingham City shot-stopper his first summer signing. Beale is claimed to be a long-term admirer of the 30-year-old and wants to add a new goalkeeper to his ranks ahead of next season.
