Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag meets Sir Jim Ratcliffe during takeover talks

Erik ten Hag met Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Friday morning as the Manchester-born businessman visited Carrington during talks over his bid to buy the club.

The Ineos boss was at Old Trafford early in the morning for talks with United figures, including chief executive Richard Arnold, before heading to Carrington for a tour of the training ground.

Ten Hag was at Carrington before holding his press conference to preview the Fulham game and he was introduced to Ratcliffe at the training ground.

"I just met them, we shake hands, I’m focused on the game, we play a big game on Sunday, all our focus is on that, others in the club are dealing with potential investors," said Ten Hag.

Ratcliffe's rival for a full takeover of the club, Qatar businessman Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, was at Old Trafford and Carrington on Thursday while United were in Seville for the second leg of their last-16 Europa League tie with Real Betis.

Beyond a brief meeting with Ratcliffe and Ineos' director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford, Ten Hag insists the takeover isn't on his mind and that he is dealing with a gruelling schedule of games.

"My job in this moment is focus on the game so let's talk about the game, it’s a big tie and we have to get ready for that," he said.
