Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that Tyrell Malacia suits the profile of the type of player that the club is looking for in its summer signings.
Malacia, 22, was confirmed as United's first signing of the summer transfer window on Tuesday, joining the club from Dutch giants Feyenoord. He has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Old Trafford, keeping him at the club until 2026, although the deal does feature the option of an additional year.
Key in helping Feyenoord reach the final of the Europa Conference League last season, Malacia is renowned as one of the most promising left-backs in European football. He regularly caught the eye in the Eredivisie last season and Ten Hag was linked with signing him while in charge at Ajax.

Renowned for bombing forward from the left-back position and lending a hand in the final third, Malacia is a player that will excite the fans and only develop further. And for Ten Hag, he ticks all of the right boxes.
"I think he's the modern left-back or full-back," Ten Hag told United's club website. "He suits the profile [we were looking for] and most important from every full-back is that he closes the right area.
"He can also take part in the offensive side of our game, and he can do that really well. I think he will really contribute to the team."
Malacia, who has been awarded the No.12 shirt at Old Trafford, has been included in Ten Hag's 31-man squad that has flown out to Bangkok for the start of the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. He could make his Reds debut when they face Liverpool in their first friendly on Tuesday.
