Manchester United make two youth team appointments

Manchester United have made two new appointments at youth team level as part of wider improvements to the sports science department.

Alex Ouzounoglou has joined the club from Burnley, where he spent over a decade, while Matt Walker has joined from Cambridge United.

Ouzounoglou has taken up the role of Head of Athletic Development for the Youth Development Phase, working with players between the ages of 12 and 16.

He joined Burnley back in July 2012 where he went on to become their Academy Head of Sport Science. He had previously been a strength and conditioning coach at Portsmouth.

Walker will be the new Head of Athletic Development for the Professional Development Phase, working with players between the ages of 17-23. He joins from Cambridge, where he was Head of Performance.

Both appointments are part of the club's plans to improve their sports science team at academy level this summer.

The club have also confirmed there are improvements and additions in operational roles too, as the academy ramps up overseas trips now they have returned post-COVID.
