Manchester United make decision on Diogo Dalot future with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for sale

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag plans to keep Diogo Dalot in his squad next season.

Dalot, 23, has ousted Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back and broke into the Portugal national squad for last year's European Championship. The Manchester Evening News understands Dalot has been told he is in Ten Hag's plans.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund attempted to sign Dalot last year and Atletico Madrid have been among the clubs to enquire about him this season but United have informed interested parties they currently have no intention of negotiating for Dalot.

The MEN reported last week United are open to selling Wan-Bissaka and it emerged on Thursday his representatives had formally been informed the defender is not in Ten Hag's plans.

With it now abundantly clear United intend to sell or loan Wan-Bissaka, the club are not anticipating any serious offers for Dalot to test their resolve.

Dalot spent last season on loan at AC Milan and has appeared 29 times for United this season, starting 18 times in the Premier League.

The full-back had to wait until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal to start in the Premier League - against Arsenal on December 2 - and Dalot has started in all but six league fixtures since.

Dalot signed for United from Porto for £19million in 2018 and is contracted to the club until next year, with the option of an additional year.

Wan-Bissaka, 24, joined United a year after Dalot for £45m rising to £50m from Crystal Palace and after an encouraging first season he has struggled to develop into a more attack-minded right-back.

Solskjaer and his staff's dissatisfaction with Wan-Bissaka's attacking output led to an attempt to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid last summer.
