Manchester United 'make contact' with Marcus Thuram and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Bundesliga star Marcus Thuram ahead of a potential move for the forward.

Thuram made his name on the international stage last winter when he helped France progress to the World Cup final. Despite his performances being limited to substitute appearances, the 25-year-old impressed by notching up two assists for his country.

However, it is in Germany where his form has been particularly stellar. For Borussia Monchengladbach, Thuram has managed 14 goals in 25 appearances and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, there are reports that the forward is looking for a new club.

According to Calciomercato, United have taken the leap to contact the player's representatives to see if Thuram would be interested in a move to Old Trafford. The Reds will have to be wary though as Juventus and Inter Milan are also believed to be looking at a move for the forward.

Elsewhere, Marseille are reportedly not interested in making Eric Bailly's switch to the Ligue 1 giants permanent. L'Equipe claims that Marseille boss Igor Tudor has lost confidence in the Ivorian centre back.

It is understood that the French club will be obligated to buy Bailly if they qualify for the Champions League and the United man features in 19 Ligue 1 matches. The report claims the latter clause in the loan deal has put Tudor off featuring the defender in matches.

Bailly has so far featured in 10 matches in the league for Marseille, his most recent appearances being a cameo during the 2-2 draw with Strasbourg at the weekend. The 28-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2016 and has made 113 appearances for the Reds.
