Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney believes David Beckham's move to bring Lionel Messi to Inter Miami is a great capture for the MLS.
Rooney is currently in charge of the Herons' Eastern Conference rivals DC United, who sit eighth in the table. Beckham's Miami are struggling so far this season and sit bottom of the league, despite sacking Phil Neville last month
DC and Inter faced each other last weekend in the MLS, with Rooney's men twice coming back from behind to draw 2-2 with the basement club. While not officially announced by the club yet, Messi revealed he would be moving to Beckham's co-owned club this summer after negotiations over a return to Barcelona fell through.

Asked by Sky Sports for his opinion on the Argentine's switch to the States, Rooney praised Inter Miami's work in securing the deal. He explained: "It is a great move for the MLS.
"I think commercially it will be huge, it will draw interest again from different regions of the world, I am sure it will do that as well because you are getting arguably one of the best players to play the game.
"I am sure he will come here and want to be competitive and want to help Miami climb up the table. Not just the fans but the coaches, players are all excited to have him in the league."
It is widely expected Inter will announce the arrival of Messi in the coming days with his debut for the club expected before the end of the month.
