Manchester United legend Roy Keane remained coy after being heavily linked with the vacant managerial job at Sunderland.
Keane, 50, has been mentioned in the conversation to replace Lee Johnson as the Black Cats boss after he was sacked following a 6-0 defeat to Bolton.
The former Republic of Ireland international knows the Stadium of Light all too well after he led them to the Premier League following promotion from the Championship.
During his media duties with ITV after Liverpool's win over Cardiff in the FA Cup fourth-round, after being asked about a busy week, he replied: "No comment," with a wry smile as the speculation continues to swirl.
The ex- United captain was back in front of the ITV cameras on Friday during the Reds' clash with Middlesbrough.
When questioned over the possibility of taking over, he said: "I’ve got no control over that, so no comment.
"I’ve made that clear over the last few years I’d like to go back into as a manager but of course, a club has to want you, you have to want that club and just as important the contract has got to be right so we see how things take shapes over the next few days."
Sunderland's miserable run continued as they were stunned by relegation-threatened Doncaster Rovers on Wearside on Saturday.
