Manchester United may have to part with £84m in order to land Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to reports.
The Uruguayan has been tipped to leave Portugal this summer, with the player dreaming of a big move on the continent. United have been frequently linked with the attacker, who has scored 34 goals in 41 games this season.
Erik ten Hag is said to be looking at reinforcements at the top end of the pitch with Edinson Cavani leaving and Anthony Martial potentially making an exit too. Nunez has reportedly been shortlisted by United.

But club officials have now learned that Benfica have raised their asking price from £51m to £84m - or from €60m to €100m - amid intense interest in their player, according to Record. Ten Hag may be handed up to £150m to spend when he arrives at United and it’s questionable whether he would want to spend a large chunk of his purse on a striker when midfield replacements are a priority.
Elsewhere, The Telegraph reports that Erik ten Hag wishes to bring Lisandro Martinez to United from former club Ajax. Jurrien Timber has been the man most likely to join the Dutch coach on the plane over to England.
However, it is Argentina international Martinez who could make the move first after interested parties learnt that he may be available for as little as £30m. The 24-year-old has completed 90 per cent of his passes in the 37 games he has played this season, keeping 20 clean sheets overall.
