Manchester United lead Porto 'scouting mission' after Luis Diaz's Liverpool transfer

Luis Diaz has certainly hit the ground running since his January arrival at Liverpool from FC Porto.

The Reds swooped to secure the signature of Diaz at the end of January after he was the subject of a bid from Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the winter transfer window.

The 25-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpoo l and the fee for him could rise to as much as £49m if potential add-ons are triggered during his time at Anfield.

And since his signing, the Colombian has impressed in Jurgen Klopp’s side, fitting into the Reds' front three with ease.

As well as impressing in the Premier League as the Reds maintained their title charge, Diaz was also one of Liverpool’s standout stars in their Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea.

And now it appears that both Manchester United and Leicester City are keeping a close eye on the talent at the Estadio do Dragao.

Both clubs, according to Portuguese publication A Bola cited by Sports Witness, had scouts in attendance for Porto’s 4-2 away win against Pacos Ferreira on Sunday.

While Atletico Madrid, Freiburg, Real Valladolid, Tenerife and Club Brugge also had scouts in attendance at the match.

Porto’s victory at the Capital do Movel Municipal Stadium extended their lead at the top of Primeira Liga to six points heading into the final months of the campaign.

Speaking after his side’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Saturday, Jordan Henderson hailed the impact Diaz has had on his side since his arrival on Merseyside.

He said: “He’s hit the ground running. He’s been fantastic. He was immense in the [Carabao Cup] final and again today brilliant. He’s fit straight in, pressing and winning the ball high up the pitch.”
