Harry Maguire expects to stay at Manchester United beyond the January transfer window amid links with Aston Villa.
Sources close to Maguire and United say they have found the feverish speculation ‘laughable’ after Maguire was supposedly spotted in Birmingham over the weekend. Maguire is believed to have gone to The Belfry to play golf.
Although Maguire has fallen down the central defensive pecking order at United, manager Erik ten Hag wants to keep the club captain until at least the end of the season.

Maguire started in United’s last Premier League match against Bournemouth and is expected to start in the League Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Maguire has only started four times in the league this season, two of them in their opening defeats to Brighton and Brentford.
The defender starred for his country at the Qatar 2022 World Cup as England made it to the quarter-finals before being beaten by eventual finalists France.
