Manchester United: Jurgen Klopp reaction to Carabao Cup exit goes viral

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's reaction to Manchester United's dismal Carabao Cup exit has gone viral.

Newcastle, who are in the midst of a miserable injury crisis and had to field six full-backs and no strikers at Old Trafford, remarkably ran out 3-0 winners to reach the quarter-finals.

Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall put the visitors into a deserved half-time lead before Joe Willock's fine strike on the hour proved unassailable. Only then did Erik ten Hag react by throwing on Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund, but it proved in vain.

Meanwhile, Liverpool beat Bournemouth 2-1 on the south coast thanks to Darwin Nunez's long-range rocket. Klopp addresses the media as usual after the game where he was first informed of United's result.

Appearing to see the result on a TV screen before the post-match press conference, Klopp looked confused, let out a sympathetic "Oooh" and then winced. He then added a simple "okay" before beginning his media duties.

United manager Ten Hag elaborated more on his feelings post-match, telling reporters: "We know the standards you can expect with Manchester United, it is not good enough by far. We have to put things right.

"I take responsibility for it, it’s my team and they’re not performing. I share it with my players but I’m responsible."

"As a team we aren’t good enough, whatever the reasons are. No space for excuses. We have to do things better, we have to raise our standards because otherwise you never get the right levels, performance or results.

"The results are not there, the logical process is the confidence goes down. You are at Manchester United, it’s expected that you deal with that pressure so that’s normal.

"Play football but they have to understand we have to do it together, everyone has to take responsibility for his own performance and togetherness for the performance."
