Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi to bolster their midfield options.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Erik ten Hag is weighing up a move for the 23-year-old midfielder. United signed two central midfielders in the summer, with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro arrived to add some much needed experience to the middle of the park for United.
However, the pair are both in their thirties and Zubimendi would provide a long-term option for Ten Hag to continue his rebuild. The Spaniard could be moulded into the role while Eriksen and Casemiro are still at the club.

Although Zubimendi's contract is not set to expire until 2027, it is thought that he has a €60million (£51.6m) release clause which is set to increase to €65m (£55.9m) in the summer. Despite the saving on Cristiano Ronaldo's wages following his early departure, Ten Hag may well have to convince the club to stretch the budget a little bit more than planned should he make a move for the La Liga star.
Elsewhere, reports in Spain say that United are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby.
Since Ronaldo's exit was confirmed, Ten Hag knows that he has a role to fill in attack. Although the Portugal international was not matching the same output he managed last season, United still need to bolster their front-line options.
Diaby was left out of France's 26-man squad for the World Cup, yet given the talent that Didier Deschamps has at his disposal, this is by no means a sign of his lack of ability. The 23-year-old has been in superb form with Leverkusen this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in the Bundesliga, as his performances appear to have caught the eye of Ten Hag.
