Manchester United have reportedly identified Alexander Isak as a 'possible replacement' for Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the Mirror, the 22-year-old Real Sociedad forward is now being chased by Man Utd and Chelsea, amid interest from Arsenal.
football.london understands that Isak is of interest to the Gunners, but the north London club were not willing to pay his £75million release clause in the January transfer window.
However, Arsenal could look to make an official move for the Sweden international in the summer window as Mikel Arteta seeks a long-term striker solution following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earlier in the month.
Arsenal may have now been dealt a blow, though, with Manchester United and Chelsea interested in the Swede. United, are said to want Isak as a long-term replacement for Ronaldo, who turned 37 earlier this week.
What has Isak said on his future?
Isak recently insisted he was happy at Real Sociedad, but also admitted that anything can happen in the future.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the striker said: "I am not talking about other clubs. I am a Real player, I work here and this is my club. My work is on the pitch, and as I told you before, there are other people who work outside."
Asked if he will stay at Sociedad, the youngster replied: "You can never be sure of anything.
"As I always say, you never know what can happen in football but in the end I’m here, happy, and nothing more."
This is not the first time Isak has hinted at a move away from Sociedad, with the forward opening the door to a Premier League switch later in his career.
"I am in a good place at the moment, I am very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well," Isak said when speaking to The Independent in November of last year.
"They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it is a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative. Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.
"I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future."
