Manchester United have 'initiated appropriate steps' after Cristiano Ronaldo's full interview with Piers Morgan was released.
Ronaldo was unavailable for United's match against Fulham on Sunday afternoon due to illness, but he still managed to make headlines and overshadow the 2-1 victory in London when a bombshell interview emerged later that day.
The second part of the interview was broadcast on Thursday night and the club have issued an update on the player. A United source says the club are aiming to bring the process to a conclusion as swiftly as possible before any outcome is communicated.

The statement read: “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.”
United promised to 'consider the full facts' on Monday before the full release of the interview and that statement read: "Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.
"Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."
Ronaldo is currently preparing to represent Portugal at the Qatar World Cup.
