Manchester United handed double injury boost ahead of Newcastle United Carabao Cup final

Erik ten Hag has revealed Harry Maguire and Antony are fit again ahead of the Carabao Cup final. The former has been a bit-part player at Manchester United since losing his place two games into the season.

Antony, on the other hand, has missed the previous four fixtures with a leg injury. Red Devils supporters are yet to witness signs of consistency following the Brazilian’s big-money move from Ajax.

In his absence, Jadon Sancho has enjoyed a resurgence while Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho have also featured. One player who remains a doubt is Anthony Martial, with Ten Hag providing an injury update before Man United’s Europa League clash against Barcelona.

"We still have training to do,” he told reporters. “I expect to have Maguire and Antony back. Anthony Martial is not available. He is back on the pitch, we wait for team training."

Teg Hag also discussed his excitement at taking charge of “big matches” so soon into his Old Trafford tenure. The Red Devils face five-time European Cup winners Barcelona before the Wembley showdown against Newcastle United on Sunday.

“Definitely (whether he expected big games so soon into his reign),” he added. “We all want to play big games, big matches. When we were young, we dreamed of it.

"We are really enjoying it, we are really looking forward to it. We have to give our best."
