Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has issued an appeal to help an animal rescue organisation open a number of new spaces.
The Scotsman, who won 38 trophies in total during his 26 years with the Reds, remained with United as a director and club ambassador since his retirement from management in 2013.
Ferguson is well-known for his love of animals and owns several horses - including Rock Of Gibraltar. The 80-year-old has recently offered his support to Dogs 4 Rescue, which is an independent dog rescue in a semi-rural part of Manchester.

The organisation has rescued and rehomed nearly 1000 dogs in the four years that they have been running, and are funded by profits from their Daycare 4 Dogs dog crèche, as well as a variety of fundraising efforts.
Ferguson recorded a video message for the rescue organisation, which was posted on their Twitter page and viewed by more than 100,000 people.
"I want to tell you about an amazing charity, Dogs 4 Rescue, whose mission is to rescue dogs that no one wants," Ferguson said. "Since forming, they have rescued 1,500 dogs. They have managed to secure a new 41 acre site, which will enable extra dogs to be rescued each year.
"They've come so far and with your help, they can go to the next level. I'm asking you to help by donating something you feel you can afford. Thank you."
Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League titles during his time at Old Trafford. He remains the longest-serving manager in the club's history - having overtaken Sir Matt Busby's record in December 2010.
