Manchester United great Roy Keane leaves Ian Wright in stitches with joke about Gary Neville

Roy Keane left former Arsenal striker Ian Wright in stitches as he teased former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville ahead of the World Cup final.

Both Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe dominated the headlines ahead of the tournament's final, with the pair leading the scoring charts in Qatar on five goals each.

There has been plenty of debate regarding how to stop Messi and Mbappe, and although England's Kyle Walker managed to keep the latter off the scoresheet in the quarter-final, it ultimately was not enough for the Three Lions to progress.

Before kick-off, Keane heaped praise on the 23-year-old forward, as he claimed it was Mbappe's work rate that made him stand out from the crowd.

He told ITV: "What makes him [Mbappe] great is the moments, but he also attracts opponents which helps his teammates. When he gets these opportunities, quick feet, movement. You can’t switch off against them."

Neville then suggested that as a defender it would be better to come up against Messi than Mbappe.

He said: "Messi’s an absolute sensation, if you were a defender, you’d rather face a one-vs-one against Messi than Mbappe. [Josko] Gvardiol the other night [during Argentina's 3-0 semi-final win against Croatia] got past him and tried to knock him off the ball, Mbappe would strike living fear into you. It’ll be great to see these two against each other tonight."

Keane then took the chance to take a cheeky dig at the expense of his former teammate, saying: "I think they'd both fancy their chances against you, Gary."

The comment left fellow pundit and former Arsenal striker Wright in stitches as Neville, who saw the funny side, was left looking rather sheepish ahead of kick-off.
