Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand jokingly threatened to storm out of the BBC studio during Argentina's 2-0 win over Poland on Wednesday night, after former Manchester City player Pablo Zabaleta made a tongue-in-cheek remark over Sergio Aguero's infamous last-minute title-winning goal.
Argentina beat Poland 2-0 to confirm their spot at the top of Group C, while their European opposition had a nervous wait for the full-time whistle to blow in the other Group C match that evening, Saudi Arabia vs Mexico.
Goals from Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister and City's Julian Alvarez, meant that Poland were only going through on their disciplinary record as the 90 minutes drew to a close. It was then a nervous four-minute wait to see if Mexico could add one more goal to their already 2-0 lead over Saudi Arabia, as they looked to go through on a superior goal difference.

However, a last-minute goal from the Saudi side reduced the deficit to a single goal, and although Mexico won on the night, they could not surpass Poland's goal difference in second place.
Gary Lineker was joined alongside Alan Shearer, Ferdinand and Zabaleta for post-match coverage on BBC, as the group discussed how bizzarre an ending to the game it was. The former United man himself admitted that he had been in similar situations where he was waiting on news from the results in other games to determine whether or not his side had done enough.
Ferdinand of course infamously lined up next to Phil Jones during United's 1-0 win over Sunderland on the final day of the 2011/12 season, where an Aguero goal in the 94th minute would break hearts in the red half of Manchester. And it did not take long for Zabeleta to remind his fellow pundit of the eventful day more than a decade ago.
In response to Ferdinand's comments about trying to find out what the result was in another game as a player, the former City man cheekily said: "Like 2012?".
The United man, in turn, jokingly threatened to walk out of the studio, saying: "Can you get me off air please? He's [Zabaleta] brought up the City stuff with Aguero's goal. He's out of order, you've got to go now."
Lineker himself could not resist having one last dig, as the former Leicester player let out a small cry of "Agueroooo" in tribute to Martin Tyler's famous commentary of the goal.
