Manchester United give Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani updates and team news vs Leeds

Raphael Varane is available for Manchester United's Premier League match at Leeds but Edinson Cavani is set to be absent again.

Varane was named in the starting XI against Brighton on Tuesday but withdrew through illness and was replaced by Victor Lindelof.

Cavani has missed the last two games with a groin problem but was pictured in training on Thursday. The 35-year-old has only completed 90 minutes three times this season.

Eric Bailly returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with an ankle injury but is available again and Nemanja Matic could also return from a shin injury.

The trip to Leeds is the first of three games in six days, with United due at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round-of-16 on Wednesday before they end the month at home to Watford.

"As it seems, Edinson Cavani will still be out," Rangnick said. "He's still having some problems with his groin and also his stomach, the same is true with Tom Heaton. Apart from that, everybody else seems to be available.

"We have to play one after the other, we are fully aware the game at Leeds is an important one for us to stay where we are right now in the table we have to win that game.

"Then, three days later, we have an important one at Atletico Madrid in a competition we would also like to proceed into the next round. And then three days later, we have another important one at home against Watford.

"We take one by the other. Therefore, we are grateful we have more players available again. Nemanja Matic was back in training today for the first time and did quite well and might be available for Sunday against Leeds, if not the next two games."
