Manchester United fined by UEFA after Champions League incident

Manchester United have been fined €10,000 by UEFA following an incident during their Champions League clash with Young Boys last year.

During the fixture at Old Trafford which United drew 1-1, three fans managed to invade the pitch after bypassing stewards.

The fine which the Red Devils will have to pay equates to £8,312.

United had led in the dead-rubber match through Mason Greenwood but the Swiss side managed to find an equaliser through Fabian Rieder.

Ralf Rangnick's men had already progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League before the fixture on Wednesday, December 8.

United will travel to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the round of 16 on Wednesday, February 23.

The return fixture at the Theatre of Dreams will take place the following month on Tuesday, March 15.

United will not be in action this weekend due to the international break but they will return to competitive fixtures against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday, February 4.
