Manchester United finally grant Jesse Lingard his wish as Cristiano Ronaldo recognised

Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for Thursday, June 2.

Lingard has finally got what he wanted at United

A busy Wednesday at Old Trafford saw two departures confirmed, with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard set to leave the club following the expiry of their contracts. Both announcements were made within hours of each other, with Lingard’s exit confirmed shortly after Pogba’s.

Neither decision will come as a shock to United fans, particularly Lingard’s departure. Ronaldo nominated for PFA Player of the Year award

It might have been a season to forget for United, although Cristiano Ronaldo provided a rare bright spark in an otherwise dismal campaign. Had Ronaldo not been on hand, it could have been a much worse season for the Reds, who had their talisman to thank on more than a few occasions. The 37-year-old’s form even saw him win two Player of the Month awards in September and April.

And he could add to his impressive trophy haul after being nominated for the 2021/22 PFA Player of the Year award. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is among some esteemed company to take home the coveted prize.
