Manchester United are now the 'favourites' to sign Andre Onana in this summer's transfer window after Chelsea abandoned their pursuit of the Inter Milan goalkeeper.
That is according to a report by the Evening Standard, which claims the Londoners have 'ended their interest' in the 27-year-old. Chelsea are reportedly going to allow Edouard Mendy to leave the club this summer and want a new goalkeeper to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga for the No.1 spot.
It means, according to the report, United are now the frontrunners to sign Onana, who previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax. The Cameroon international only joined Inter last summer but is already being heavily linked with an exit after an impressive 2022/23 campaign.
The shot-stopper made 41 appearances for Inter this season, registering a respectable 19 clean sheets. He also produced an impressive performance in the Champions League final defeat to Manchester City just over a week ago.

Onana, who made almost 150 appearances under Ten Hag at Ajax, is, according to the report, going to cost any interested party 'around £50million' this summer. United are bracing themselves for the exit of David de Gea and will need to recruit a new first choice goalkeeper instead of a back-up option.
Meanwhile, United are said to be 'in the lead' in the race to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos. That is according to a report by Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, which claims French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also one of the leading contenders to land the Portuguese international.
Ten Hag, who is desperate to add a striker to United's squad this summer, is understood to be a fan of Ramos, who made a name for himself last year when he plundered a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-1 World Cup round-of-16 win over Switzerland in Qatar. He replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting line-up that evening and produced an outstanding performance.
Though that, arguably, has been his career highlight to date, the 21-year-old was nothing short of magnificent for Benfica this season, scoring 27 goals and grabbing 12 assists in all competitions. He scored 19 goals in 30 league appearances and also plundered seven goals in the Champions League.
