Manchester United fans were loving Fred's gesture to Wout Weghorst after the Brazilian sealed victory against West Ham on Wednesday night.
United progressed into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 3-1 comeback win over the Hammers at Old Trafford. Said Benrahma opened the scoring for David Moyes' side on 54 minutes, but a string of changes put Erik ten Hag's side back in the ascendancy as a Nayef Aguerd own-goal and Alejandro Garnacho's wonder-strike turned the tide.
The 18-year-old's curling effort in the 90th minute looked to have settled it, but there was time for a third as Weghorst forced a defensive error before Fred pounced on the loose ball to fire home. The work from Weghorst was typical of what the Dutchman has brought to United since joining on loan, chasing what looked like a lost cause and forcing the mistake.
RATINGS: Garnacho and Weghorst good in West Ham win
Fred reeled away in celebration after finding the net but found time to point out Weghorst for his work before sliding towards the Stretford End. And United fans were praising both after the result was confirmed.
Erik ten Hag was also full of praise for Weghorst, who has consistently shown his pressing quality despite only finding the net once since his arrival.
"He was one of the best players on the pitch," the United boss said. "He was involved. He was in front when he got up there with Harry to force the own goal from the opponent. The goal from Garnacho he was pressing and he was definitely [pressing] in the third goal when he was doing a good press and forced the opponent to make a mistake so Fred can score.
"He understands positioning. In and out of possession he is doing a really good job for the team."
Victory over West Ham set up a quarter-final tie with Fulham, who beat Leeds United in their respective fifth round clash, to be played on the weekend of March 18/19.
