Manchester United fans sent wild by 'magic' Alejandro Garnacho goal vs Barrow

Alejandro Garnacho got Manchester United supporters excited by netting a dramatic late winner against Barrow. Garnacho made his mark in the closing stages on Tuesday night as the next generation rubber-stamped Papa John's Trophy progression.

Following their comfortable victory over Carlisle in this season's opener, United made it two wins from two as Charlie McNeill and Garnacho settled the scores. Jordan Stevens replied for the League Two side as penalties appeared to be looming at Holker Street.

However, after tormenting his marker with several busy runs throughout the 90 minutes, Garnacho sensed a huge moment and snatched three points at the death with a devastating finish. But there was also a telling contribution from academy coach Tom Huddlestone, who came off the bench to provide a defence-splitting assist.

McNeill won and converted a penalty shortly before half-time as Barrow goalkeeper Scott Maloney was caught in possession, while Stevens got the final touch when United were breached upon the restart. Ultimately, though, the decisive strike came in added-time when Garnacho underlined his promise.

Cushioning a long-range pass from Huddlestone, the Argentine burst into life and nestled a low attempt past Maloney and into the Barrow net. It means United will take on Fleetwood in their Northern Group G finale safe in the knowledge they have already made it through the group.

Needless to say, though, it was Garnacho who took centre stage post-match rather than what the actual result has done for their chances in this competition.
