Manchester United fans send message to Alejandro Garnacho after frustrating Leeds display

Manchester United fans have flooded Alejandro Garnacho with messages of support and encouragement after missing a good chance to score against Leeds in Wednesday’s draw with Leeds.

A header from Marcus Rashford and a comeback strike from Jadon Sancho extinguished a two-goal deficit but Garnacho, who started the match, walked off the field frustrated with his display.

The 18-year-old rounded Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier in the first half but saw his subsequent strike headed away from goal by the backtracking Maximilian Wober. Garnacho was also dispossessed in the lead up to Raphael Varane’s own goal for Leeds’ second.

Garnacho later shared a post on Instagram with the caption: “When you don't understand what is happening, remember that God is in control. I trust the plan you have for me.”

Scores of United supporters rushed to give him a confidence boost ahead of the return trip to Elland Road on Saturday. Fans commented under his post, telling him not to worry and that better things are on the horizon.
