Manchester United fans send message on anti Glazer protest to take place before Brighton fixture

Manchester United fans are set to protest against the Glazer family's ownership on Sunday ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

United host Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend in Erik ten Hag's first competitive fixture in charge. Despite the new era on the pitch, the Glazers remain a firm presence in terms of ownership.

Before last season's fixture against Norwich City, supporters marched to the Theatre of Dreams to show their anger with the Glazers. United fans will meet again this weekend for a similar protest.

Organised by the supporters group The 1958, fans will meet tomorrow (Sunday) from 11am onwards at the BBC Dockyard forecourt in Media City. From noon fans will then march towards Old Trafford past the Lowry and Trafford Wharf Road before heading onto Sir Alex Ferguson Way.

From there, the protest will cross Wharfside at Hotel Football before the fans will regroup at the Old Trafford forecourt. The march will then head to the Munich Tunnel before the match kicks off.

In a statement posted to Twitter, The 1958 said: "The Glazers are unfit and improper owners. We have shown this over the summer with our digital campaign and revealing other confirmed information about exactly the type of family they are.

"We will always support the club. We will always support the manager.

"We will always rise up against the current owners and any puppet hierarchy they appoint. Join us, stand with us, unite with us to make a stand for what is right.

"Our club's future is our only motivation. Some things are worth fighting for."
