Manchester United fans are pleading with Tesla owner Elon Musk to buy the club from the Glazer family.
The drive to bring the richest man on the planet started with talkSPORT host and United fan Andy Goldstein responding to a tweet from Musk about his efforts to buy Twitter. Responding to a tweet where Musk claimed he made an offer for the social media site, Goldstein responded: "Elon, Elon. Retract your offer. Buy Man United.
"Spend £2bn on the best players in the world. Win everything and then boast about it on Twitter."
Musk is reportedly worth an eye watering $273billion. The businessman and entrepreneur earned his money after selling PayPal to eBay before starting electric vehicle company Tesla.
United fans remain unhappy with their current owners, the Glazers, with protests already under way this Easter weekend. The club have increased security at their training ground Carrington as protests against the Glazers' ownership of the club intensified. Supporters with banners calling for 'Glazers out' gathered outside the complex this afternoon ahead of Ralf Rangnick's press conference.
More protests are expected Saturday before United face Norwich City in the Premier League. While Musk taking over United seems a long shot, that has not stopped these fans from asking him to take over.
