Manchester United fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo winning another individual accolade

Manchester United have not been good this year. In fact whatever the result of the final match of the season against Crystal Palace, the club will end the season with their lowest points total in the Premier League era.

Though his dry spell in the middle of the season could have contributed to United's problems, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the only players to come out of this campaign with his reputation fully intact. The Portuguese forward has 18 goals in 30 games this season and is only behind Heung Min-Son and Mohamed Salah in the goal-scoring charts.

Ronaldo's goals have mostly come at the end of the season and this month was no different, with the striker scoring five goals in four games for United. And it seems his exploits have not gone unnoticed with the forward now earning two individual awards.

Firstly, Ronaldo won the Premier League Player of the Month award for April and now he has followed that up by winning the PFA award for the same period as well. Ronaldo put himself in the running for the accolade after he scored a hat-trick against Norwich City to win the game 3-2 as well as goals against Arsenal and Chelsea. United's number seven had never scored against Chelsea before in the Premier League before last month's game.

Ronaldo beat out the likes of Son, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin de Bruyne and James Ward-Prowse for the award. This may offer some compensation for the fact that he was snubbed in the nominations for the Premier League Player of the Season last week.

Given the circumstances surrounding the club currently and their failure to qualify for Europe, the celebrations were obviously muted from United fans, but they were still quick to congratulate Ronaldo on social media. Here is a selection of their replies on Twitter:
