Manchester United have reached an agreement with Juventus in principle to sign France midfielder Adrien Rabiot, the Manchester Evening News understands.
United, who made a disappointing start to their 2022/23 Premier League campaign on Sunday, losing 2-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford, are desperate to add fresh blood to their midfield ahead of the transfer window closing and have identified Rabiot as an ideal candidate. However, the Reds face the challenge of trying to negotiate personal terms with the midfielder's agent - his mother.
Mum Veronique, according to sources, is the "only stumbling block" United face in their quest to get a deal over the line. The club must offer satisfactory terms to stand any chance of completing a move for the 28-year-old.

United remain keen on signing Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong, but the club has accepted that they need to pursue alternative midfield options considering how long the saga involving the Dutchman is dragging on. It is almost three months since the Reds opened talks with Barcelona.
